We’re proud to be part of a special new experience to mark Liberation 80. We’ve joined forces with Guernsey Museums, the Island Archives, Guernsey Arts, the Priaulx Library, the Royal Court, and local historian Marco Tersigni on an exhibition to honour this defining chapter in the island’s history.
There are nine unique displays around St Peter Port, bringing to life the full story of the Occupation, Liberation, and Recovery. Our exhibit is called A Dark Chapter – it focuses on the experience of the nearly 2,500 Channel Islanders who were deported to internment camps in Europe. It also tells the little-known but fascinating story of what happened to the Library in those years.
