A service to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) will take place at Westminster Abbey on Thursday 8th May 2025 as the nation comes together to honour and pay tribute to the Second World War generation.
Westminster Abbey marks VE Day regularly. Special services of remembrance were held on the 40th, 50th, 60th and 70th anniversaries, with thanks given for the reconciliation of former enemies and prayers said for lasting peace.
The service will form part of the nation’s celebrations marking the 80th anniversaries of VE and VJ Day. Attendance at the Abbey service on Thursday 8th May will be by invitation.
