Tacluso Gardd Neuadd Goffa Henley-in-Arden

Our Memorial Hall was aquired in 1947 and was renovated by the townpeople of Henley-in-Arden in memory of those residents who had laid down their lives and in gratitude to those who gave service to their king and country in the second world war. It has been looked after by the people of Henley ever since and is a hub for community events.

To get the outside space at the hall looking its very best, a small, but enthusiastic, band of volunteers led by Tara Winter, spent two days mowing, weeding, pruning, digging and planting. Lunch cooked by Ian and coffee donated by “The Sandwich Shop Henley” kept the volunteers going, thank you!

There are still some jobs to go, and decorations to be hung and then we will be ready for a free community film screening and celebration on the evening of VE day, and a knees up organised by the Henley & District branch of the British Legion on Saturday 10th May. Lots of the volunteers are also involved in Henley Community Association who are holding a picnic on VE day afternoon in the nearby Jubilee Gardens.

Thank you to all the volunteers that helped rejuvenate the outside space at the Memorial Hall, lent equipment, or stopped by to encourage us. It is looking great for VE day and beyond. We have already had lots of comments saying what a difference has been made and how good it looks.

There are more photos on our Facebook page and Instagram account and details of the other events on our website.
