Manchester held a civic commemoration event to mark this special anniversary.
The event was organised by Manchester City Council for the people of Manchester to come and remember those who gave so much to achieve victory and mark the end of World War II
Manchester’s event was led by the Lord Mayor of the city as well as city dignitaries and the general public.
The national 2-minute silence was observed and the last post sounded.
The Lord Mayor of Manchester and local children laid wreaths for the fallen heroes.
