I inherited some old photographs from my grandmother when she died.
Amongst I found this letter and photograph of my Grandad’s brother, Richard Hird, who was killed in Bray Dunes in 1940. He was in the Cold Stream Guards. The letter is from an American lady who I believe was actually an actress. She visited Richard in 1936 for the presentation of colours. She wrote to him in 1943 to see if he was ok. Sadly he was killed 3 years earlier.
