This is a letter written by my mother, Renee Holt, when she was a small child evacuated with her sister, Daphne, from the Blitz (lived in Dagenham) to Mere, Somerset.
She was born in 1933 so wasn’t very old at the time. The letter is to her parents and little brother.
Her parents (my grandparents) went to Mere and brought the girls home after a few weeks as they weren’t being treated very well.
My mother, Renee May (nee Holt) had kept it after my grandmother, Lilian Holt died.
