It is a lettercard from my uncle serving with the 1st London Irish Rifles. It was sent at Christmas 1944 to his girlfriend, later his wife. After the printed “Greetings from ” he wrote “Eric, Happy Xmas, Blondie” – there wasn’t room on the card to write more. His battalion fought in the Italian Campaign and what they experienced stayed with him – he visited some of the areas later in life. The lettercard was sent during what must have been a hard time.
He was a musician (drummer)after the war with his own band which he called The Eric Raeburn band.
I found the card along with some photos in my Dad’s thing’s after Dad died. My Dad was a sailor on HMS Indefatigable during the war.
