Eric Selby to his fiancée Pauline Hill

When my Aunt Pauline died the letter was found in her house. It was among her treasured possessions and diaries. Pauline was a nurse in London during the WW2 living in Chelsea. Pte Eric Selby RSC (Royal Signal Corps) and Pauline became engaged in 1944 after their casual friendship blossomed. This letter was written not long after they were engaged and was the last letter sent before Eric left for service overseas. He was a Private In the Royal Signal Corps and was gassed during the war which left him with bad lungs for the rest of his life. Pauline & Eric were married in July 1945.

They were never blessed with children but were the happiest of couples and loved each other dearly until Eric’s death.
