Sgt Hick to Walter Eric Tipping

My Grandad kept this letter in his personal war memories which I had once he passed away. He never mentioned this but it was written by Sgt Hick from his hospital bed in New Southgate London and tells how my Grandad , known as ‘Tip’ saved his life after they got ‘hit’ . Although he lost his leg it reads that my Grandad helped him whilst others passed by.

I’m always filled with pride everytime I read it. My Grandad survived the war but likely rarely spoke of it.
