Pembrey Country Park – Sunday 4th May and Bank Holiday Monday 5th May 2025, 11am – 4pm
https://www.pembreycountrypark.wales/

Pembrey Country Park was previously the site of Pembrey’s Royal ordnance factory. The isolated sand dunes of Pembrey Burrows provided the ideal conditions for the dangerous occupation of the manufacture of explosives! The park has an Augmented Reality History Trail app for people to learn about the history of the park.

Pembrey Country Park was transformed and is now 500 acres of green flag awarded woodlands and sits alongside an 8 mile blue flag beach. The park includes woodland walks, a campsite, cafes, plus many activities available for all the family to enjoy such as a ski slope, miniature railway, toboggan, adventure play areas, golf.

Given the history of the park and the bank holiday being very close the VE80, we have decided to host a 2 day event to commemorate both WWI and WWII activities, with a re-enactment camps for each one. Accompanying the WWII area will be great food options, 1940’s style music, traders and on the Monday a tea dance provided by a local lindy hop group. We would also have a display boards on the history of our parkland and local people during the war.
