Come and see the display created by Sue Gothard and Anne-Marie Fawcett, using recycled materials collected by members of our online community: Ossett Through The Ages (OTTA).
The display commemorates each of the WW2 casualties named at Ossett’s War Memorial, and some whose sacrifices are yet to be acknowledged.
Reggie Earnshaw was from Ossett. At 14 years old, he is recognised by the CWGC as the youngest WW2 service casualty.
Augusta Myers is Ossett’s only known female service casualty.
Bertie Percy Dickens died on duty as a fire watcher at Roundwood Colliery. He is not remembered on any War Memorial.
Volander Thomas fell fighting a rearguard action in the retreat to Dunkirk. Prior to tye war he had a promising rugby career, playing for ossett and Wakefield Trinity.
We remember them, and all our Fallen, in this poignant display.
