I have the photograph in my family album.
It was sent from Cairo in a small bundle with others, The picture shows my Father John Lucas Matthews Signalman 2585994 (sitting) with his army pals (I do not know them) in Cairo. The short note is written on the reverse.
My Father survived, and was demobbed in 1946. He suffered “shell shock” as it was called then for twenty years.
