Eileen Hurst and Raymond Berwick

This is just one letter of a complete romance between my mother and father. They began as ‘pen-pals’ and ended up married.

My father was in Burma at the end of the war and my mother lived just outside Leeds, Yorkshire. They wrote to each other then met and married and all the letters from both sides are here.

They kept the letters and would occasionally get them out and read them. As they have now both passed away I (one of three children) have kept them safe. I also have letters from my father’s brother who was in Japan and a lovely descriptive letter from a friend to my mum’s father.
