Lewis Dunn to his mother

It is a letter sent to his mother letting her know that he is well and asking her to let their sisters know that he is well and asking her to pass on his address.

The poignant thing about this letter is twofold 1) That for the previous five weeks he had been a short distance from their brother Harold and could have spent time with him
2) This letter is dated 16th October 1944 and on 10th November 1944 he was killed in action

The letter was among my Mother’s belongings and found after her death in 2006 although the family were aware of Lewis being killed in action. Mother gave her second son the name Lewis in memory of her brother
