Banff Castle VE & Community Showcase Day

Step back in time and join us at Banff Castle on Saturday 10 May for a fantastic day of 1940s-themed activities to mark VE Day! Hosted at Banff Castle, a beautiful, community-run facility operated entirely by volunteers, this vibrant celebration brings the spirit of the era to life with something for everyone to enjoy.

From toe-tapping tunes to stirring songs, our day will be packed with live music, dancing and performances by brilliantly talented local community groups and featured artists. Explore a display of authentic military vehicles and dive into the stories of our past with the Banffshire at War exhibition, which runs throughout May.

We’re proud to showcase the creative talents of local young people with a special prize-giving ceremony for our Schools Art and Creative Writing Competitions. You can also catch special screenings of Casablanca and a moving documentary about the RAF Banff Strike Wing, offering a glimpse into the region’s wartime history.

Whether you’re a history buff, vintage lover, music fan or simply looking for a fun day out, this event has something for everyone. We encourage all our visitors to join in the spirit by dressing up in their best 1940s vintage – dust off those dancing shoes and don your wartime glad rags!

Everyone is welcome – families, individuals, locals and visitors alike. Come and be part of this special day as we remember, celebrate and enjoy together in the heart of our community.
