The National Archives VE Day Document Display

Drop in and view a display of original documents which show what Government departments and military personnel would do when peace was declared. Local councils were advised there would be no objections to the lighting of bonfires; speeches would be made in Parliament and the King would broadcast to the nation. Military units in northwest Europe were advised that units could arrange locally, church services, meals, games and entertainments. Come and talk to our records specialists who can provide historical background and explain the importance of VE Day.

Tuesday 6 May 2pm – 4pm at The National Archives, Ruskin Avenue, Kew TW9 4DU
Free. No need to book.
