Leighton Buzzard VE Day celebrations Lighting of The Beacon

On 8th May 2025, Soulbury Village will mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day, as our nation unites to celebrate 80 years of peace since the end of World War II in Europe. VE Day 80 is not only a tribute to those who fought for freedom but also a powerful reminder of the resilience and unity that have defined our country ever since.

Soulbury’s Timetable of Events:
08:00-09:00 – Raising of VE Day Flag on Church Yard Grounds (Michael Fopp)
18.30-20.00 – Fish & Chip Meal + alternatives at the Boot Inn. £11 per person on a pre- booked ticket only basis, please book in advance by scanning the QR Code below or by visiting:

20.00 onwards – Assemble on Village Green by the Beacon. There will be music and an
inflatable pub.
21.00 – The Proclamation by Soulbury’s acting Town Crier (Tony Crack)
21.30 – The National Tribute Reading (Sir Alex Bonsor)
21.30 – Lighting of the Beacon
21.35 – Singing Hymn “I Vow to Thee My Country”
21.45 – Singing Wartime songs led by Cheryl Hawkins & David Philips to be followed by music and Soulbury Social.
