Torrance Community Council invites you to join us for a day of reflection, remembrance, and community as we mark the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day. This milestone event honours the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who served during the Second World War.

Programme of Events

9:30 AM – Raising of the Flags and Laying of the Wreath The Cenotaph A solemn ceremony at the village Cenotaph, including the raising of the national flags and the laying of a commemorative wreath in honour of the fallen.

11:00 AM – Service of Remembrance & Tree Planting Torrance Primary School A reflective service involving pupils, clergy, and community representatives to honour those who served, followed by the planting of a commemorative tree symbolising peace and remembrance.

11:30 AM – Victory Tea Torrance Parish Church All are welcome to share in a traditional Victory Tea, bringing together generations in the spirit of community and gratitude.

8:30 PM – Walk of Peace by Lantern & Lighting of the Torrance Lamp of Peace A peaceful evening procession through the village, concluding with the ceremonial Lighting of the Lamp of Peace, symbolising hope, unity, and the enduring legacy of peace.

Let us come together not only to remember the past, but to ensure that its stories live on—honoured, shared, and kept alive for future generations.
