Earsham and the local area through the WWII years

A local enthusiast who has hundreds of items of memorabilia, including maps and documents will be displaying around 6 table tops full of these items.
Earsham Parish Council has done some research and have got more information on a very local level which will also be displayed.

The Parish Council has, for some time, been working on a commemorative plinth and plaques to mark the nearby spot of the WWI airstrip plus a plaque to honour a lady called Violet Hewitt who risked her life to stop a passenger train hitting a truck stranded on the level crossing which had spilled crates of cluster bombs onto the line in July 1945. Mrs. Hewitt was awarded the LNER Medal for her bravery. The construction of this will be completed in time for VE80 and will be unveiled on or around 8th May 2025.
