Some years ago I bought a packet of letters from Mrs Williams to her son Gordon who was serving with the Royal Navy in India, with replies from Gordon.
I bought the letters from a gentleman in Cardiff who had found them in the loft in his house. He had advertised the letters on Gumtree. I noticed as soon as the sale was completed, that he offered another packet of letters on the same site. I contacted him and was able to purchase the entire group.
I now have a box of the complete correspondence throughout the war. There are hundreds of letters in the box. I was so happy to be able to keep them together.
There are many memorable entries including Mrs Williams watching German bombers hitting Cardiff while some dropped their bombs in the fields in order to escape RAF fighters.
It is a wonderful archive, and when I saw your appeal thought you might be interested.
