Stapleford VE Day Activities

Stapleford Town Council, Stapleford Community Group, Stapleford Churches Forum and Stapleford Combined Services are all involved in key events across the day 8th May 2025. Plus there are some ongoing events across the week and some additional events being run by local community organisations, clubs and pubs. The details of these are being added to the Stapleford Town Council website and Facebook pages.

In brief:

9am Stapleford Community Group are organising the RAISING of the FLAG and reading of the proclamation in the Walter Parker Square. A bugler will play afterwards. This will be followed by a cuppa at Simply Delicious.

10-3pm all week. The Town Council Carnegie Centre’s has been transformed with a MEMORABILIA display is open to the public, (which has involves contributions from the Yarn Bomb, History Society, Dig In, SDGHA (allotment assoc) and local people). It is also open Tues 6-8pm. On Thurs 8th, the Centre hosts a special event inc at 6pm DIG for VICTORY Talk by Dig In/Allotments Assoc. And a musical SWING BAND event, performed by the George Spencer Academy singers and Swing Band members at 6.30pm-7.30pm. The display is open on Saturday morning 10-12.

11am In Walter Parker Square, a bagpiper will play followed by a brief service delivered by Rev’d Savage from the Churches Forum. There will be a 2 MINUTES SILENCE and the bagpiper will play as people leave. All attendees are invited to the Carnegie Centre for lunch and to view the full History of the Fallen display.

6pm St Helen’s RING OUT HER BELLS. There is an event organised by the churches at St Helens on Thurs 8th which involves our more vulnerable members of the community, music, displays, socialising and refreshments.

9.30pm Stapleford Community group host the BEACON LIGHTING along by other areas across the UK, at the Old Mill Lane venue, after which attendees are welcome to invited back to the Old Mill Club for complimentary FISH & CHIPS.
