Nellie White (nee Gibson)

I have in my possession several dozen letters written by my grandmother, who died before I was born, to my father who was serving with the RAF mainly in the middle east but also was in South Africa and Greece.

Other members of the family chipped in with their news now and then. I became aware of them when I visited my sister in Yorkshire who suddenly revealed a box in which the letters were kept, a box I did not know existed. Since obtaining the letters I have now got a book published of the letters which also includes notes of interest on things mentioned in the letters and photographs of the family and also ones taken by my father which on service. The letters were sent from the Scottish coastal town of Ayr and details life in the town during the war and how the family were faring.

The photograph is of my grandmother Nellie White (nee Gibson) and the letter is a short airgraph.
