Accessibility

This accessibility statement applies to the website ve-vjday80.gov.uk.

This website is run by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

At the present time, we are aware of the following parts of this website which are inaccessible:

  • User-contributed content in our Letters to Loved Ones gallery, for which transcripts are only occasionally available. This is due to the difficulty of transcribing historic handwritten letters from the contributed photos
  • PDF documents supplied by partner organisations may not be tagged for accessibility. Where we are aware of issues, we will seek to replace these with tagged versions
  • In the ‘Share details of your event or activity’ form we use an input mask in some fields to guide users on the format of dates to be entered. While it is possible to complete this with a screen reader, the input mask can be disorientating
