A True British Soldier

It is a play on the life of the last person to die in conflict in WW2 in Burma whose name is on the Nicholson War Memorial in Leek. It marks 535 people who fell in conflict in both wars.

Frank Hammersley was 20 years of age. The play written by a young playwright chronicles the relationship between Frank and his WW1 veteran father also called Frank who was captured after the Battle of Mons.

The play celebrates the working class community of Haregate.
