The Forces Employment Charity has several programmes to support the military family. One of those programmes is OpNOVA, which also has a community benefit programme called Past & Present Heritage.
The team, mainly composed of ex-military veterans and some members of the local community, cleans, repairs, and maintains local headstones with a military connection that is not affiliated with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
Great Yarmouth Borough Council has recognised the team’s work and agreed that the team can clean the memorial in readiness for the service commemorating the 80th anniversary on August 5th. It has also provided financial support to recognise the civilians who fell during WW2.
