The Kingswood Village Community Association, supported by the Kingswood Residents’ Association, is hosting a VE Day Celebration Afternoon Tea, with live music from local band Atlantis playing WWII songs. The local Banstead branch of the Royal British Legion will be in attendance. There will be contributions from survivors of WWII bombing, commemoration of those from Kingswood who died in the war and a display of medals, commendations and other wartime objects.
This event aims to recreate the joyful community spirit felt at the end of the war in 1945, but also to remind us how fortunate we are in this country to have lived since then in relative peace. It is aimed at all in our local community, young and old.
