The Ribbon of Poppies started “growing remembrance” back in 2017 to mark the Centenary of the end of WW1 in 2018.
Since then our living memorial has grown across the globe, to every continent bar Antarctica!
The UK has lost 97% of our wildflowers since the end of WW2 (National Wildflower Centre, Cornwall). So The Veterans Charity invite people to create a carpet of crimson in their garden or community to redress those huge losses.
There are a number of options to participate, all are free to join, all you need to do is have a place to sow and some seeds!
Options include:
+ A poppy planter – for no or smaller gardens.
+ A poppy patch – for small to medium gardens
+ Roundel of Remembrance – a floral tribute to mark the passing of the Last of the Few
+ Crimson corridors – along drive ways, roads etc
+ Memorial Meadows
There are floral options as well:
+ Poppies – Red, Purple (animals), White (partners & peace), Yellow (munition workers)
+ Rosemary – Anzacs
+ Cornflowers- French troops
+ Daisies – Dutch & Belgiums
The Ribbon of Poppies is designed to be recycled ♻️. making it a very green event.
The poppy stems can be dried and used in displays.
The seeds can be collected, dried and gifted to friends, although we suggest keeping some back for your own projects going forward.
The flowers could dried and used in displays or we have used the (poppy) petals as a crimson confetti to pay respects on land or sea.
We have created 80,000 free pledges, get yours by clicking the link below.

The Veterans Charity don’t believe in charging for the Ribbon of Poppies ad we feel the price was paid by those who never came home from WW2.
You can sow seeds in batches from now until the end of summer. Why not sow some on VE Day and VJ Day?
Will you grow remembrance and help rewild the UK 🇬🇧?
