Newlands Parish Council, with the support of Newlands Community Group will be hosting a reading of the official proclamation and raising of the VE80 flag on Thursday 8th May. The hall will be open from 8:30am, with the official flag raising and proclamation at 9am. All welcome to attend and show our gratitude to those who did serve and continue to serve.
Within the hall will be a chance to try different forms of communication in use during World War II, and many of which are still in use today. There will also be a tree of memories and thanks that anyone can leave a message on showing their thoughts. This will be turned into a publication showing the gratitude of the community.
There will be refreshments available throughout the event.
