On the Sunday, Monday and Thursday of VE week we are hosting a 1940s NAAFI style Tea Shop in a military tent beside the Bawdsey Radar Museum which is housed in the first Radar Transmitter Block in the world. Radar was first developed at Bawdsey Manor just before the outbreak of the Second World War and was crucial to the success of the Allies.
Come along and join us for a cuppa and a cake – we have saved our rations for this special occasion! We will all be wearing our best (1940s) frocks, using mum’s best china, and using the last of the jam that we made last summer. Lots of 1940s themed displays and music.
The museum will be open as normal from 11-4 on 4th, 5th and 8th May and isn’t to be missed – but if its just a chance to celebrate that you want, then simply come and join us in the garden.
