Save the Date & Join Selsey’s VE Day 80th Anniversary Celebrations!
Mark your diaries and, more importantly, come along to East Beach Green on the evening of Thursday 8 May for a special commemoration of VE Day 80!
7:00pm – Bring your own fish & chip supper from your favourite Selsey chippy – the only meal not rationed during World War 2!
7:10pm – Watch an incredible display & sail past by RNLI Selsey Lifeboat, Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team and Selsey Fishermen – our home front’s answer to a flypast!
8:10pm – Sing along with Chichester City Band as we join in community wartime songs.
8:50pm – Attend Selsey’s civic ceremony and hear personal stories of life, events and see photographs of Selsey on the home front during World War 2.
9:30pm – Witness the grand finale – the lighting of the beacon, a symbol of remembrance and unity.
