From Tuesday 29th April – Sunday 25th May, visit Rugby Art Gallery and Museum’s Community Space to see a display of creative work made by the residents of four local care homes who have come together to honour this significant occasion.
This display is part of our ‘Good Times Roadshow’ project. The Good Times is a free, friendly, craft and reminiscence sessions aimed at adults living with Dementia and their carers which takes place once a month at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum. The Good Times roadshow took this out into the community, delivering creative and tactile dementia-friendly sessions right on residents’ doorsteps.
Inspired by a bustling street party, the exhibit features crafted ‘sponge’ cakes, vibrant bunting, and charming decoupage tea sets. A centerpiece of this display is a collaborative union jack mosaic, symbolising unity and shared memories. During the session, the group also took inspiration from some of the museum’s VE Day and World War II-themed handling objects.
