DBRDA are bringing the 80th Anniversary of VE Day celebrations and commemorations to the local
isolated rural community that we serve in the Drumlough and Ballygorian area. As such we are planning
to host ‘VE 80 at Drumlough’ event on 3 May 2025.
The event will take place in the form of a Tea Party / Coffee Morning / Celebration & Commemoration /
educational activities and will include:
- Historical exhibition, talk and video presentations about WWII and the ‘original’ VE Day.
- Musical Entertainment / Mini Concert using local bands and artists.
- Celebration Party for the community that will provide games and entertainment for all
ages. - Victory Tea Party in the form of an indoor street party (outdoor weather permitting) to replicate the
original VE Day street parties in 1945. - Activity Station / Celebration Packs will be provided as a learning tools and fun activities for on the day and to takeaway for learning.
This project will support the local community with a positive and focused community project/initiative to positively acknowledge/recognise the 80th anniversary of VE Day as well as positively acknowledging and
remembering the VE Day.
