Alfred Boutle to Dorothy Boutle

The postcard has always been in our family, and as a nipper, I tore the stamps off the back! The postcard was sent to my Mother by my Father, around Christmas, 1943. He drew the picture on the front himself and it is labeled “On the road to Mandalay”, was he possibly inspired by the song. I’m not sure if he was on the road to Mandalay as he didn’t want to talk it after the war. At the time of this card, he was gunner Boutle and he was demobbed as a sergeant
