Arthur Kinrade served in both First and Second World Wars, and was wounded in both conflicts firstly at the Somme and then on the beeches of Dunkirk , due to his wounds and long service we believe he was posted somewhere in North Africa at German POW camp , guarding the captured German soldiers from around 1942. The letter is sent from my grandfather Arthur Kinrade to my mother Mona Fargher in 1943 as a reply to my mothers (his daughter’s) letter.
My mother is still alive at the age of 96, and we found the letter as we were tidying up her room, and the reference to her plaster bought back memories of broken ankle , which made her smile and although her body is frail her mind is still as sharp as ever.
