Constance May Carr-Jones to Stanley Carr-Jones

On my father’s death I discovered that he had kept all the letters received from my Mother during the war. Mum and Dad were both born in Liverpool and during the war she worked in a Reserved Occupation connected with the operation of shipping and freight into Liverpool and at the time of VE Day he was in India. Her letters vividly recall life as a working woman during the war, with details of the Blitz as well as the events to mark and celebrate the VE and VJ. I was able to compile two volumes of a family history based on these letters.

The photograph I attach is of their wedding in Liverpool. The dress my Mother wore was included in an exhibition some years ago at the War Museum on war Brides.
