George Butterworth was my father. He was born in 1924. He served in the Royal Navy during WWII. He was mainly on minesweepers. He was involved in many Artic Convoy Missions. He was also in the English Channel on D-Day.
I found this postcard recently. Sent to his brother Andrew (aka Ike). I had no idea that he had even been to New York let alone sailed on the Queen Mary which was bringing Allied troops back to the UK
