Travel information

Roads and public transport in Central London may be busier than usual, particularly on Monday 5 May.

Plan ahead and allow more time for your journeys. Use TfL’s real time information to see how services are operating on its website or by downloading the TfL Go app. Consider alternative routes and that the closest stations or stops might be very busy, particularly if you’re traveling with young children or have additional mobility needs.

A lot of London Underground stations do have lifts but many do not so please check before you travel.

There may be times and places where short term safety measures such as queueing, changes to the way you enter or exit a station, and road closures may need to be introduced. Please listen out for announcements and speak to transport staff who are there to help you.

Police in London

Safety and security

In the run-up to and during the commemorations, you may see more police activity than usual. This is nothing to worry about, it’s all part of ensuring everyone can enjoy this momentous occasion safely and securely.

The police are experienced in managing large-scale public events and have been working with event organisers and partners for many months to prepare for the commemorations.

Stewards and other staff will also be on hand throughout the events to help you. Don’t be surprised if they pop up and say hello if you’re looking a little lost or in need of help!

Play your part

We all want to enjoy the commemorations safely and securely. You can play your part by staying alert and trusting your instinct. If something doesn’t feel right, tell staff or a police officer. They will do the rest. In an emergency, always call 999.
