Our residents were fully involved in decorating our care home in readiness for VE Day celebrations. Our teams within the care home all worked so hard to ensure it was the most incredible day and it certainly was.
We had a visit from our students at Boston College who fetched cookies and spent the morning reminiscing with our residents. They were fully engaged talking, laughing, listening to stories of old and getting to know one another.
Amanda ‘Care Home Entertainment’ DreamBelles entertained our residents in the afternoon and there was singing, dancing, laughter, so beautiful to see.
After watching the residents singing and dancing, we ate the most amazing buffet specially prepared by our kitchen team and as usual it was incredible.
Families joined their loved ones and in between sharing special moments and memories we tuned in to watch the Royal family and all the wonderful events and celebrations, it sparked so many conversations after between our residents and younger staff.
What an incredible way to celebrate VE DAY 80.
We will never forget those who gave their lives so we could live.
