The 80th anniversary of VE Day is a national celebration marking the end of World War II in Europe on May 8, 1945. As part of these commemorations, Wimborne Minster Town Council (WMTC), in partnership with the Minster Church, is organizing a special event on the Minster Green (BH21 1ED) and at Wimborne Cemetery, expecting a turnout of approximately 300–500 attendees.
These celebrations aim to unite people of all ages and backgrounds, fostering a strong sense of community in Wimborne Minster. The event offers an inclusive and engaging experience for children, families, and the elderly, encouraging connection and shared enjoyment.
WMTC is coordinating the event and has arranged an entertainment program featuring performances on the Minster Green. Later, a procession will lead to the cemetery for the beacon lighting and national tribute, culminating in a cannon firing with the Wimborne Militia.
