This is my mother’s letter to my father describing her experience of VE Day in Bristol. He was in India, Mumbai, 1942 – 1945, a Sergeant in the RASC. I have several hundred of his letters to her, plus a brief diary of his time in France in 1940. Very few of her letters survive as he did not bring them home – this and a few others survived as they were undelivered as it was too late in the war.
