My uncle passed away in 2023. He had been living in the house that my grandparents had owned since 1948. Our Grandparents we so incredibly loving and affectionate to each other, completely besotted, so we had imagined there must be letters that they shared during WWII.
Grandad joined the Navy and Gran was in the Land Army. They had grown up together as children and married on 19th January 1944. This is one of three letters I found when I cleared out the house that held over 70 years worth of memories. We are so grateful that whilst he never discussed his service, he retained all his service records and took extensive photos, enough to fill an album. We now seek to share their war more widely.
