Staff Sgt F Shepherd to his wife Doris

Between them my parents wrote 1194 letters to each other during the war. They were kept by my mum and dad after the war in a cardboard box which was hidden in the loft. I only found the box after my parents had died when their house was to be sold. There were other letters also – to dad from his parents, describing the hardships of the blitz and the blackout and that my grandfather spent his nights watching for enemy parachutists.
